The Role Assignments page gives you a flattened, cross-connection view of every role assignment in your estate – handy for audits and access reviews.

Viewing assignments

Navigate to Identity & Access > Role Assignments in the sidebar. A summary card shows the Total Assignments count across every connection.

The assignments table lists, for each assignment:

  • The principal – the user, group, service account, or federated identity that holds the role.
  • The role – the role name that was granted (for example, Reader, Contributor, Owner).
  • The scope – the resource, resource group, or subscription the role applies to.
  • The connection – the connection the assignment was discovered on.

Filtering by role

To focus on a specific role, use the Role filter above the table. The Overview page’s Privileged Access card also links directly to this page with the filter pre-applied, so you can jump from a high-level count (for example, “4 Owners”) straight to the list of who those Owners are.

Click Clear next to the active filter to return to the full list.

Typical workflows

  • Audit privileged access – filter to Owner or User Access Administrator and review who holds elevated access.
  • Investigate a principal – when you spot an unexpected entry, follow the principal’s name into the principal detail page to see their full access profile.
  • Track a scope change – sort or search for a particular subscription, resource group, or resource to see every principal with access to it.
