Quick Start
Follow these four steps to start seeing your cloud costs in Troposphere.
1. Create your account
Visit the signup page and register with your work email address. You will receive a verification email – click the link to activate your account.
2. Create an organisation
After signing in for the first time, Troposphere will prompt you to create an organisation. The organisation is the top-level container for all of your cloud connections, cost buckets, and team members. Give it a name that matches your company or business unit.
3. Connect a cloud provider
Navigate to Inventory > Connections and click Add Connection. Choose your provider and follow the on-screen instructions to grant Troposphere read-only access to your billing data.
Tip
You only need read-only permissions. Troposphere never modifies your cloud resources. See the Cloud Connections guides for the exact permissions required for each provider.
Troposphere ingests the previous day’s spend data on each sync – it does not backfill historical billing. Initial ingestion usually completes within a few minutes, though accounts with a large number of resources may take longer on the first sync.
4. Explore your costs
Once ingestion finishes, head to Costs > Overview. From here you can:
- See total spend for the current or previous month.
- View a breakdown by connection to see which accounts drive the most cost.
- Switch to Costs > Forecasts to project your end-of-month spend across the next 1, 3, or 6 months.
- Head to Costs > Cost Buckets to group spend by team or product and attach a monthly budget.
Tip
Try grouping by tag to see how well your existing tagging strategy covers your resources. Untagged spend is often the first place where allocation gaps show up.
You are now up and running. Next, check the Cloud Connections guides for details on adding additional providers, or explore the Guides section for deeper walkthroughs.
